Whats the latest trend in the redesigning of the laptops? Yes, you got it right. It is the inclusion of the HD-DVD drive to the machine. While Asus and Samsung has already stuffed HD-DVD drive into their machines, HP also announced the upgrade to its 17-incher Pavilion dv9000t with the integrated HD DVD ROM for additional $450.

The integrated HD DVD includes a HDMI port for playing the HD content on the large displays. Along with the HDMi port, it also comes with a DVD dual layer burner. You can even opt for the HPs Ultra BrightView display with dual-lamp technology for a screen resolution of 1440900 at extra $125.

Other salient features of the HP Pavillion dv9000t are NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card with 256MB or 512MB of video memory, up to 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, Bluetooth, a Gigabit Ethernet LAN and a 56K modem.

The cheapest configuration for a HP Pavilion dv9000t with HD DVD inclusion will set you back $1550.

Dell And Toshiba Calls For Additional Battery Recall

September 30th, 2006 by laptopfly

burnt-vaio_48
The problems of the laptop manufacturers doesnt seem to be ending as Dell has recalled 100,000 more batteries apart from the big 4.1 million battery recall while Toshiba increased its count of battery recall to 830,000 batteries after the earlier announcement of 340,000 notebook batteries recall.

Sony
itself is about to start a global battery replacement program. The most interesting part of the whole scenario is that while Sony is urging all OEMs to make a recall for affected batteries, it hasnt made a recall for its own machines. What could be the reason?

Whatever the reason be, all the laptop leaders must be cursing Sony for their appalling time.

New iMacs Informally Support 802.11n Capabilities

September 30th, 2006 by laptopfly

Finally, the news has arrived. While we were assuming that Apples new line of Core 2 Duo iMacs will integrate 802.11n wireless support, it has been now confirmed that the new iMacs will feature the AirPort cards that will offer swift connection speeds of up to 540Mbps.

Now, the new iMacs will flaunt the 802.11n draft-compliant Wi-Fi, thanks to the Broadcom BCM4321-series chip. Well, the AirPort card inclusion in the new iMacs might be a hint that Apple clinches the 802.11n before its final approval.

While iMacs have been bestowed with 802.11n WiFi card, I done get an idea why Apple kept the Mac Pros aloof from the WiFi support.
