According to NotebookReview, Sony will release 15.4-inch, 13.3-inch and 11.1-inch widescreen VAIO FZ, VAIO SZ5 and VAIO TZ series in July this year. The widescreen 14-inch VAIO CR laptop and 13.3-inch widescreen VAIO CZ are also rumored to come out at the same time. The VAIO FZ series will feature Intel’s next generation “Santa Rosa” platform and the new Core 2 Duo “Merom” processors, a 2GB of RAM, and up to 200GB hard drive. Sony VAIO SZ5 series will feature current Core 2 Duos, 2GB of RAM and up to 200GB HDD, while the ultra-portable Sony VAIO TZ laptops will be powered by Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage CPUs. These notebooks will have an integrated webcam.

Quanta Computer Inc. that is subjected to build OLPC laptops has announced a hardware update to these laptops. Now these laptops will be able to run windows XP but nothing comes for free and therefore the price will also increase from $100 to $ 175.
Nicholas Negroponte, the former director of the MIT Media Lab, who now runs the nonprofit One Laptop Per Child project revealed these updates. The organization takes $3 per computer and will start the production as the order mark reaches to 3 million. Currently Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Pakistan, Thailand, Nigeria and Libya showed interest in being part of the first wave of OLPC XO computers.

MacBook or MacBook Pro users must be much relieved to here that the company has finally come up with a solution to resolve the battery issues related to performance, such as shorter than usual battery life or problems charging the battery. The company has issued some software updates in the Apple menu and its website and has advised the owners of the above mentioned note books bought after February 2006, to download these software updates.
The company has also mentioned on its website that in case the fix doesn’t work, notebook users should contact Apple to have their battery replaced if they notice the following symptoms.
• Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
• Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
• Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
• Battery pack is visibly deformed.
The issues are just related to the performance of the product according to the company.

Mebius PC-WT70T is a brand new laptop from the Sharp group. The laptop utilities 1.6 GHz CPU processor, a 15.4 inches display, and 1GB of RAM. The Windows Vista Home Premium and Microsoft Office 2007 will be pre-installed with this product. In addition, it has a SATA microprocessor of a capacity of 100 GB. The Mebius PC-WT70T is also equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and an integrated DVI. No word on pricing or availability.

This latest laptop model with extendable screen arm and 12.1-inches widescreen LCD sports 1.73GHz Core Duo U2500 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 100GB HDD, DVD combo drive, 1.3 megapixel webcam and Windows Vista.
I think laptop users have now got one more entrant in the market to opt their comforts while working on laptops, but still price might create a barrier because this laptop is shipping now in UK for 850 pounds and approximately $1,700 in US.
