According to Avian securities, Dell claims that the 20 to 30% return rates for SSD laptops. They say that the “global reliability data shows that SSD drives are equal to or better than traditional hard disk drives ever shipped.” They also state that the failure and return rates are a result of wanting better and more advanced technology. So it’s Dell’s word against the people’s, I wonder who will win? [Dell]

The Everex Cloudbook will be dropping the 22nd in Japan. It features a 7-inch touchscreen, bluetooth, and 802.11a , a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor, and 30GB hard disk. Expect this laptop to go for ¥59,800 or about $600. [Impress]

Toshiba has just upgraded their 12.1-inch Dynabook SS RX1 in Japan with a new 128GB SSD. The RX1/TAE comes with a 128GB of solid state disk with internal, KDDI EV-DO data module, 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U7600 processor, 2GB of memory, Intel 945GMS Express graphics, a 1,280 x 800 pixel panel resolution, and 6.2 hour or 12.5 hour batteries. If you’re looking for a laptop like the Macbook Air but stronger than the FRNL laptop by Frontier might be a good choice. It features a waterproof keyboard, a body that can resist up to 120kg of pressure. The FRNL is powered by an Intel A110 CPU (800Mhz), 1GB of RAM and comes with a 12.1” LED backlight LCD with SXGA resolution, 80GB of HDD, and wifi A/B/G. No word on when, where, and how much it’s going for, but it’ll probably be pretty pricey. [Akihabara]
